The 'cp' command copies files and folders from one location to another, and common flags include -a or -archive to preserve attributes and permissions, -v or -verbose to show progress, -i or -interactive to prompt before overwriting existing files, and -n or -no-clobber to skip copying existing files. For example, the 'ls' command lists the contents of a directory, and common flags include -a or -all to show hidden files and folders, -l to show detailed information, -h to show human-readable sizes, -r to reverse the order of the output, and -t to sort by modification time. Familiarizing yourself with these is important. However, some are more common and useful than others.
